This is a picture of my two best friends and me.I am the “chubby” one all the way to the right.Some may look at this picture and be appalled by my body type but drool over my friends, that’s completely okay.But media, family, peers and society in general have all made me feel incompetent because I am larger.But really I’m not “larger”. I’m a healthy weight, I have a healthy BMI, I have a healthy fat percentage. Sure I’m not at 10% body fat like my friends are but it doesn’t make me any less healthy or beautiful than they are.
They are each 105 lbs and 5’2. Even that is healthy. But me being 5’1 and 120 makes me no less healthy than they are.I am naturally larger. I could exercise for weeks on end and eat as little as possible and still be in a bigger frame.
But still some women find they “need” to be skinnier to be considered beautiful by other or even themselves and they develop an eating disorder.70,000,000 people have eating disorders.1 in 5 women suffers from an eating disorder. 90% of these women are between 12 and 25. 20% of women with serious eat disorders will die, this is approximately 50,000 people.
Women come in all shapes and sizes, learn to respect it. Every single one of us is beautiful regardless of our size. You do not need to starve yourself to believe you are beautiful, you already are.
